The Wakefield Railway Modellers' Society was founded in March 1958 to cater for those modellers interested in small scale model railways in the Wakefield area. The Society has since prospered and now owns its own spacious premises near the city centre and organises a yearly exhibition. Members have a wide range of interests in all aspects of railway modelling and the prototype railway scene. We meet every Monday and Friday evening from 7:30 p.m. (except Bank Holidays) and enjoy talks, demonstrations, film and slide shows of railway interest as well as the building of models. Guest speakers attend at least once a month on Mondays, while Fridays and the other Mondays are usually devoted to working on a variety of layouts. Many members take the opportunity to use the club's extensive library for research projects or to simply read the latest magazines. We extend a warm welcome to prospective members who may wish to join the Society. membership is open to anyone over the age of twelve, so why not come along on one of the evenings to the clubrooms which are located in the Back Garden Street, Wakefield, just behind the Tile and Bathroom World showroom on Ings Road. Further details may be obtained from the Society Information Stand at the exhibition or by contacting the Publicity Officer: David Stockdale on 01924 256191 or e-mail: wrms@btinternet.com |
