A typical Leeds Central to Kings Cross train enters Wakefield Westgate in the late 1950s/early 1960s. The engine is a class A1 4-6-2 no. 60130 "Kestrel". The train is only 7 coaches long but will have coaches from Bradford added before its departure to the south.
Kirkgate
Probably more class 'WD' 2-8-0s were allocated to Wakefield MPD than to any other shed. This picture shows 90682 running tender first on a coal train heading east at Wakefield Kirkgate station. The other loco is unidentified. It is running light engine on one of the middle roads.
