Holderness is the low-lying area of the East Riding of Yorkshire between the Wolds and the coast. There were several proposals for a North Holderness Light Railway to link North Frodingham with Beverly via Brandesburton. The line was never built but it is shown on the North Eastern tile maps which can still be seen at several stations in the North East. We have borrowed the track plan and railway buildings of the Easingwold Railway, moved Frodingham Wharf nearer the village and made it more like Driffield. The layout is set in the 1950s.
The baseboards are built from 9mm ply with the scenic section being 20 feet long by 2 feet 3 inches wide giving an overall length of 24 feet. The layout is built in 4 feet sections with trestle-table style legs attached to the boards. SMP Scaleway is used for the track with the points being scratch built using PCB sleepers. Points are manually operated using push-pull rods under the boards linked to toggle switches to switch the polarity of the live frogs.
