Dalton Midland is set in the late 1950s/early 1960s and represents a small Midland Railway terminus in an industrial town. Traffic is quite varied assisted by imagining there being a small coal mine and a link to the main ex-LNER line which also runs through the town.

The layout started life as a test track and is an example of what can be achieved in a small space using mainly off the shelf items.
