This model railway represents the culmination of a long held ambition of its builder, the late Andy Calvert, which was to try and capture the essence of that famous railway which crosses the Pennines in such a spectacular fashion and is known to all railway enthusiasts simply as the "Settle - Carlisle Line".
The model is built to British N scale standards and the period represents the years of 1957-1962 as this was considered by many to be the most interesting time in this line's long history for the sheer variety of locomotives and rolling stock in use then.
All shunting moves are carried out without the aid of the 'big hand from the sky' with all such moves being carried out in as realistic a fashion as possible.
So, may we suggest that you find a good vantage point, let your thoughts and imagination drift back to the days when steam engines reigned supreme. Enjoy with us a bit of good old-fashioned train spotting, but be warned, with over thirty trains in use, you could be waiting here for some time.
Moorcock Junction is now operated by St. Aidan's Model Railway Group as a tribute to Andy Calvert and his model railway skills.
