Boldon Junction represents the West Coast main Line passing through the fictitious town of Boldon (Lancs.). The layout is set in the early nineties, before privatisation really set in; we try and run a variety of stock from this period ranging from InterCity and CrossCountry services, Regional Railways, Railfreight and Civil Engineers' trains including EMUs.
Rolling stock is a wide range of ready-to-run with kit built stock and scratch built models fed from a fiddle yard capable of holding approximately 50 trains! Track is mainly Peco Streamline laid on cork and ballasted with Woodland Scenic materials. Buildings are in the main handmade using brick papers or plasticcard. Signals are either Ekon fitted with LEDs or scratchbuilt with the overhead catenary being a mix of JV plain masts and scratchbuilt using brass wire and sections with Somerfeldt insulators. Pantographs are a mix of Lima/Hornby hybrids, Somerfeldt or Hurst Models Hi-Speed Kits with control being with Gaugemaster.
