In the north of Belgium, on the banks of the River Scheldt, lies the major seaport of Antwerp. The port is a major hub for freight of all types and generates considerable traffic for the Belgian National Railways, SNCB/NMBS. The extensive yards in the Antwerp area are a hive of activity by day and night, receiving and despatching trains to and from all corners of Europe. Not only is Antwerp a major freight hub, it is also a major point on the busy Brussels - Amsterdam main line and its main passenger station, Antwerpen Centreal, sees constant activity with international, inter-regional and local trains vying for space.
Sint Claralei is a fictional location set in the suburbs of Antwerp and takes its name from the street running along the rear of the layout. A variety of trains are operated, typical of the traffic on the busy Antwerp to Brussels line. Some shunting is carried out in the small yard, utilising locomotives from the nearby stabling point.
Sint Claralei is a member of the Benelux Railway Society.
