This scene is based around Flour Mill Colliery in the Forest of Dean and is typical of many mines in that area. The land for the colliery was first purchased in 1864 and enjoyed a profitable existence. In 1916 it was connected underground to the nearby Park Gutter Pit.

The date of closure is unsure but in the interests of the layout, we will keep it open until the 1950s.
