Crawford Bridge is a OO gauge layout based on the area around Crawford and Abington. The layout is not intended to be an exact model of the area but rather an attempt to capture the sweeping curves and changing landscapes as the West Coast Main Line weaved its way through the upper Clyde valley. The left hand side of the layout, as viewed from the front, is based on the area around the Crawford Viaduct, which is visible to those who travel by road on the nearby M74 (soon to be the M6). The right hand side of the layout was inspired by the passing loops at Abington with their winding reverse curves.
The non-prototypical feature at this side of the layout is the sand and gravel loading facility. This has been added to give additional operating interest and if you watch carefully you will see the empty wagons going in and loaded wagons emerging The rolling stock used on the layout ranges from the mainline Glasgow - London expresses to the local goods and passenger trains.
