Hochstein is a representation of a small terminus station on the edge of a medium size industrial town that could be found anywhere in Western Germany in the 1960s.
Hochstein features all the paraphernalia we have come to expect at a small terminus station, namely goods facilities, an unloading area and a loco shed that is probably too big for the size of the station!! Although the time chosen in which the layout is set is in the 60s, locos from an earlier epoch may occasionally put in an appearance which adds variety and colour to the overall effect of the exhibit.
The baseboard is 9ft long by 2ft wide and is constructed from 12mm chipboard, glued and screwed and treated with a waterproofing agent.
